Job description:
The primary responsibility of the Medical Scribe is to assist the physician in accurately documenting each patient’s medical chart within the practice. The physician will introduce the Medical Scribe to the patient, clarifying their role in documenting the care provided during the visit.
Essential Functions:
- Accompany the physician into the patient examination room to transcribe the patient’s history, physical examination, and procedures as articulated by the physician during the interview and examination.
- Appropriately sign and date all entries in the medical record to clearly identify the Medical Scribe’s role.
- Monitor and track the status and results of labs, x-rays, and other evaluations conducted for the patient.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with physicians and mid-level providers within the practice, consistently demonstrating the Corewell Health Standards.
- Exhibit understanding of the physical, intellectual, psycho-social, and developmental tasks significant to each age group served, while maintaining a safe care environment and recognizing age-specific safety risks.
- Uphold the Corewell Health Standards in all aspects of job performance.
- Display courteous behavior, provide clear directions, maintain professional standards of personal appearance, properly introduce oneself to patients, and treat all patients with dignity and respect.
- Perform front office duties as needed to ensure seamless coverage.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and support a model of patient- and family-centered care.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred:
- Experience within a healthcare setting.
