Job description:

The Hospitality Associate plays a critical role in supporting patients, their families, and visitors throughout the hospital, serving as a vital resource and enhancing the overall Beaumont experience. This position entails overseeing Lost and Found operations, conducting bedside rounds, and actively resolving issues to ensure a positive environment for all guests. Communication with hospital leadership is essential to address concerns and facilitate appropriate resolutions. Additionally, the Hospitality Associate participates in the planning and execution of various celebrations, such as weddings, baby showers, and birthdays, and assists with managing guest apartment scheduling and maintenance.

Essential Functions:

  • Create an outstanding first impression by providing a warm and friendly greeting to all customers.
  • Assist patients and visitors with hospital way-finding.
  • Address information needs for patients, families, and guests, directing them to appropriate hospital resources for problem resolution.
  • Ensure a clean and inviting entrance space.
  • Maintain professionalism and diplomacy at all times, adhering to department standards.
  • Perform service recovery and conflict resolution for dissatisfied guests, collaborating with Service Excellence to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Conduct hourly rounds throughout the hospital to identify and address service opportunities, ensuring patient and guest satisfaction.
  • Provide support for VIP room amenities and service, in collaboration with the Beaumont Foundation.
  • Organize event planning activities to support patients and families during their hospital stay.
  • Complete unit-specific tasks as required.
  • Present information during pre-surgical classes.
  • Tour daily through inpatient areas to identify opportunities for service recovery and gather feedback, taking appropriate actions and relaying information to leadership as needed.
  • Conduct follow-up calls after patient discharge.
  • Serve as a resource for patients and families throughout their Beaumont experience.
  • For the Women & Children’s Division, manage and prepare reports, schedules, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Environmental Services to ensure that reception and patient room areas are clean, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Support the Destination Medicine program by facilitating travel arrangements for patients from outside the Oakland, Wayne, or Macomb counties, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • As needed, provide coverage for various functions:
    • In surgical areas, act as a liaison between clinical staff and patient companions, assisting with communication and problem-solving.
    • In welcome/information desks, offer directions and patient room numbers, coordinate transportation needs, and work closely with volunteers and hospital staff to support patients and visitors.
    • Assist with Lost and Found services as necessary.
    • Help patients and families with transportation to and from the hospital entrances.
    • Provide assistance with cab and bus vouchers.
    • Utilize effective communication skills, taking into account the age, culture, and developmental needs of individuals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of department-based training with demonstrated competency.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a service-related role.
