Position Summary
- Department Management: Oversee the food service program at a single site, ensuring adherence to food quality standards, inventory management, food safety guidelines, and customer service excellence. This includes compliance with facility menus and applicable federal, state, and local policies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of income, expenditures, food, supplies, personnel, and equipment to be submitted to HCSG and facility management.
- Training and Quality Control: Responsible for training staff and enforcing quality standards. This includes conducting kitchen assessments, supporting various kitchen roles during staffing gaps, and documenting compliance using quality control indicators (QCIs).
- Effective Communication: Relay directives from client managers and administrators clearly to the HCSG staff.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure safe handling of cleaning products, use of PPE, and adherence to infection control and sanitation protocols. Report equipment malfunctions and maintain a sanitary environment.
- Punctuality and Attendance: Ensure consistent attendance, timely task completion, and responsiveness to communication systems.
- Customer and Resident Engagement: Represent HCSG positively by exhibiting courtesy and cooperation, ensuring pleasant interactions with residents, staff, and guests.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated positive attitude and ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks consistently.
- Must possess leadership skills to function autonomously after appropriate training, while ensuring safety.
- An associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, preferably with coursework in food service management, is desired.
- Required specialized training in food service management and nutrition; completion of an approved Food Protection Manager course within the first two weeks of employment is necessary.
- Certification as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or participation in the course as mandated by local regulations.
- Successful completion of the eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment is expected.
- Preferred two years of experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records and completing reports, including using web-based reporting systems.
- Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination protocols, as required by local regulations.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as push/pull and engage in prolonged periods of standing, sitting, bending, and walking.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and work in proximity to food and cleaning products.
- Residency within the service area is required.
