Position Summary
- Department Manager – Oversees the food service program at a designated site, providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure food quality standards, inventory control, food safety, and customer service expectations align with facility menus and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is vital in delivering quality dining services consistently.
- Reporting – Responsible for maintaining accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment in a report format for HCSG and facility management.
- Training – Ensures comprehensive staff training and quality control in accordance with HCSG standards, which includes conducting regular inspections of the kitchen and being prepared to assist in various dietary positions as needed.
- Communication – Effectively conveys directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff.
- Safety – Adheres to safety protocols including the use of protective gear and safe handling of materials, promptly reporting equipment and cleaning product needs to supervisors.
- Punctuality – Maintains consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Customer Experience – Represents HCSG positively through courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, colleagues, and client staff.
- Resident Experience – Engages in positive and respectful interactions with residents, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
- Exhibit a positive attitude with the ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform routine tasks efficiently.
- Utilize leadership skills effectively to fulfill responsibilities independently and safely.
- Preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in restaurant management from an accredited institution.
- Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition is required, alongside proof of completion of the CFP Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within the first 14 days of employment.
- Participation in or certification as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) is required as per state law.
- Must obtain the eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days.
- Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision is preferred.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records and completing reports, including web-based reporting.
- Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Must be punctual and reliable for scheduled shifts.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies is mandatory.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks as required.
- Must be able to work in proximity to food and cleaning products.
- Residency within the service area is required.
