Position Summary
- Department Manager: Responsible for managing the food service program at a designated site, providing leadership and support to uphold food quality standards, inventory management, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations. This entails adhering to established facility menus and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations to ensure high-quality dining services.
- Reporting: Maintain records related to income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment in a report format for HCSG and facility management.
- Training: Oversee training, quality control, and staff development to ensure compliance with HCSG standards. This includes regular kitchen tours to assess work quality using Quality Control Indicators (QCIs) and the ability to perform duties across dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher roles to assist during staff shortages.
- Communication: Relay directives from client managers and administrators to HCSG staff effectively.
- Safety and Hygiene: Utilize protective gear, adhere to cleaning safety protocols, report equipment needs or malfunctions promptly, and maintain a clean and sanitary environment following infection control policies.
- Attendance: Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely completion of assigned duties.
- Customer and Resident Experience: Represent HCSG positively through courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, coworkers, clients, residents, and facility guests.
Qualifications
- A positive attitude with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions, performing routine tasks effectively.
- Capacity to achieve responsibilities independently post-training, with a strong commitment to safety.
- Preferably possess an associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution.
- Specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition, with proof of completion or commitment to finish an approved Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within 14 days of hire.
- Engaged in the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) process, or certification as mandated by local and state laws.
- Required to obtain eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within 60 days of employment.
- Ideally two years of experience in quantity food production/service, dining/nutrition, and personnel supervision.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records and completing relevant reports, including web-based reporting.
- May need to complete an approved sanitation and safety course.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality is essential.
- Adherence to COVID-19 vaccination policies as mandated.
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull weights of similar capacity, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Willingness to work around food and cleaning products.
- Resident of the service area is preferred.
