The Farmington Hills, MI facility, established in 2005, spans 50,000 square feet and employs approximately 150 team members. This position, Operations Technician, Blasting, entails inspecting incoming products to approve or reject them, applying protective materials as required, preparing areas for coating, and ensuring products are properly masked and unmasked throughout the coating process. The role demands craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all mandated training.
  • Utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables to transport products safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment.
  • Report any faulty equipment, defective materials, or unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols and regulations.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using appropriate tools, such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, and measuring instruments as needed.
  • Perform weekly housekeeping in accordance with the 5S schedule.
  • Execute operations on various parts and products as per work orders.
  • Reinforce safety practices and report issues to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards by following established procedures and quality management systems.
  • Employ fine motor skills and excellent eyesight to inspect products, apply tape as per customer specifications, and conduct final inspections prior to forwarding products to the Final Inspection area.

Education Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Experience Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience is not required, but manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated environment is also preferred.

Knowledge & Skills for Success:

  • Proficient in time management and quality inspection tools with working experience.
  • Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Management.
  • Basic mathematical abilities and understanding of manufacturing safety.
  • Experience in hand dexterity and data entry, alongside basic knowledge in communication and blueprint reading.
  • Strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and information capture.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and occasionally move within the facility.
  • Capability to handle, adjust, inspect, and position various items regularly.
  • Effective communication and information exchange with team members.
  • Frequent distinguishing of visual details, including writing and product defects.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to noise.
