AI Pay Analysis: To adequately assess the competitiveness of the hourly rate for the “Dialysis Clinical Technician” position at the Macomb Regional Dialysis Center, specific information regarding the offered rate is required. However, as of my last knowledge update, the average hourly wage for dialysis technicians in Michigan generally ranges from $15 to $25, depending on experience, certifications, and facility type. In Macomb, MI, pay rates may vary slightly, but they often align with these figures. If the proposed hourly wage falls within or above this range, it can be considered competitive. Job description:

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Dialysis Technician to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in patient care and a genuine passion for assisting individuals with kidney disease. In the role of Clinical Dialysis Technician, you will be integral to the provision of dialysis treatments and the overall well-being of our patients.

Department Description:
Macomb Home Dialysis operates as a unit attached to an outpatient dialysis facility that oversees peritoneal and home dialysis patients, maintaining a census of 20 PD patients. Our facility is staffed with full-time nephrologists, along with both full-time and part-time home nurses and a travel pool of home dialysis technicians. The unit is supported by various staff members shared with the outpatient clinic, including front desk personnel and a technical leader responsible for machine maintenance and operational duties.

We manage a case load of 20 patients monitored through connected health systems for Baxter and NxStage. Patients are trained at our clinic to perform dialysis treatments at home, with PD training requiring 7-10 days and HHD training taking 4-6 weeks. Our home team coordinates monthly clinic visits for all home patients with the interdisciplinary team, as well as lab draws for PD patients. We provide patient education and make referrals to transplant services as requested.

The unit typically operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility based on clinic needs. Home nurses are scheduled for daily after-hours on-call duties, including weekends. The home clinic remains closed most weekends and holidays unless specific training or clinical needs arise.

General Summary:

  • Monitor patients throughout the dialysis procedure, assessing vital signs and responding to fluctuations in their condition.
  • Set up and operate dialysis machines, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues as necessary.

  • Educate patients and their families on dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, documenting treatment activities and patient progress.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards within the dialysis unit.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and pursue continuing education to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
