The Farmington Hills, MI facility, established in 2005, encompasses 50,000 square feet and employs approximately 150 dedicated professionals. Shift: DET – Shift 1
Position Overview:
The Operations Technician in the Blasting department is responsible for inspecting incoming products, either approving or rejecting items based on quality standards. This role involves applying protective materials, conducting blasting operations on designated areas, and preparing products for subsequent coating processes. Candidates should possess strong craftsmanship skills and a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all required training programs.
- Utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables to transport products safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the proper care of tools and equipment.
- Identify and report any faulty equipment, defective materials, or unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
- Adhere to all designated safety rules and regulations.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
- Perform dimensional inspections using a variety of measuring instruments such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, and surface plates as required.
- Conduct routine housekeeping tasks as outlined in the 5S schedule.
- Follow work orders to execute operations on various parts and products.
- Reinforce safety expectations and practices, promptly reporting any issues or concerns to the Supervisor.
- Uphold quality and compliance standards by adhering to all relevant procedures, work instructions, and forms as outlined in the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Employ fine motor skills and superior eyesight to inspect incoming products, attach protective tape as per customer specifications, conduct blasting operations, and prepare products for coating.
- After the coating process, perform a final inspection and unmask the products before forwarding them to the Final Inspection area.
Educational Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Experience Qualifications:
- Previous work experience is not required (preferred).
- Manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Exposure to an FDA regulatory environment is desirable.
