AI Pay Analysis: To accurately analyze the hourly rate for a “Registered Dental Assistant Full Time” in Gaylord, MI, it would be necessary to have a specific figure or range of hourly rates to assess. Generally, the average hourly wage for registered dental assistants in Michigan tends to fall between $15 to $24, depending on experience, qualifications, and the specific demands of the role. For Gaylord, being a smaller city, the rates may align closely with the lower to mid-range of that spectrum due to cost-of-living considerations. If the offered rate is within or above this average range, it can be considered competitive; conversely, if it falls significantly below this range, it might not be competitive when compared to industry standards. For a conclusive assessment, having that specific rate is essential.

Job description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The role involves assisting dentists during various dental treatment procedures that may involve saliva, blood, and odors while attending to clients of all ages, backgrounds, and economic statuses. Responsibilities include preparing the operatory for dental procedures by organizing tray setups, materials, and equipment. The position also requires taking, developing, and recording radiographs (x-rays) as well as preparing materials for making impressions and restorations. Accurate documentation of patients’ medical histories and vital signs is essential, as is the writing of lab slips and maintenance of lab cases.

Adherence to infection control and hazard communication regulations is mandatory, along with compliance with HIPAA confidentiality standards. The role includes sterilizing instruments, oiling and cleaning equipment according to MIOSHA/OSHA standards, and routinely disinfecting rooms and equipment. The candidate will be responsible for submitting monitor strips as needed and ensuring patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatments, as well as providing post-operative instructions following oral surgery or other dental procedures.

Utilization of Dentrix for charting the mouths and teeth of patients, reviewing and explaining treatment plans, and scheduling clients for further treatment is required. Strong listening and communication skills are essential for effective interaction with dentists, hygienists, and patients. Critical thinking abilities are necessary to evaluate alternative solutions to problems. For Registered Dental Assistants (RDA), the role includes performing expanded function duties as permitted under Michigan regulations, which may involve the application of topical treatments.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participation in agency drills is required. In the event of a public health emergency, the individual may be assigned additional duties as necessary. There is an opportunity to learn front office functions, including answering phones, billing for Medicaid and private insurance, processing credit card payments, and utilizing a fax machine, as well as checking patients in and out. Assistance to front desk personnel in determining client fees for services, along with accepting payments and recording transactions, may also be required. As directed by a supervisor, the employee may perform other related tasks to support organizational and programmatic goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position entails regular tasks that may expose the individual to illness, injury, or health hazards, with potential for permanent or long-term injury or illness. Adverse working conditions may include frequent travel, extreme temperatures, excessive noise, navigating challenging terrains, and exposure to blood borne pathogens. On a regular basis (over two-thirds of working days), the role demands the ability to see, sit, talk, hear, speak, stand, walk, and perform keyboard functions. Physical demands may include repeated reaching, bending or kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders, gripping, pinching, pulling or pushing, as well as transferring and lifting weights up to 25 pounds or carrying up to 25 pounds.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: A valid Michigan Driver’s License is required, along with the ability and means to travel as dictated by work responsibilities.
