Job description:
Assemble ingredients, prepare, and bake both simple and complex bakery products and desserts to meet department standards, adhering to standardized recipes for patient care, retail food services, and special events. This role includes recipe development, quality control, and the application of safety and sanitation principles. You will also direct, collaborate, and coordinate the activities of baking assistants, ensuring all products and ingredients meet established quality standards, with a keen attention to the details of special or restricted diets.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare a variety of products, such as yeast dough and donuts, according to standardized recipes using industrial bakery equipment, while identifying and rectifying any sub-standard products or ingredients in collaboration with leadership.
- Review daily orders and plan the production schedule for bakery items and desserts. This includes preparing, decorating, and packaging cakes, cookies, and other products to meet established standards and customer requests.
- Maintain safety and sanitation protocols within your work area in accordance with established standards.
- Update and develop recipes while proposing ideas for continuous improvement.
- Uphold Beaumont standards in all interactions, fostering collaboration, and providing mentorship opportunities for interns or students as requested.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in food service/production or commercial baking.
- Certification as a ServSafe Manager from the National Restaurant Association upon hire.
Preferred:
- Additional coursework in quantity food preparation, commercial baking, or related fields.
