Job description:

Reports to the Manager and assists technologists by transporting patients to examination and changing rooms, preparing patients for procedures, and performing related duties. Engages in obtaining patient imaging studies and aids in maintaining linens and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the technologist with procedures by:

    • Managing incoming orders, entering patient demographics into the system, assigning appropriate staff to procedures, and completing necessary documentation.
    • Participating in the collection of patient imaging studies.
    • Obtaining patient histories in accordance with established departmental policies and as directed.
    • Performing daily warm-up procedures on equipment.
    • Transporting patients as required.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of supplies necessary for the efficient operation of various areas within radiology by:

    • Conducting inventory checks of supplies and linens.
    • Restocking supplies and linens to maintain appropriate levels.
  • Undertake additional functions to enhance personal competence and the overall effectiveness of the department by:
    • Greeting patients in a professional, enthusiastic, friendly, caring, and sincere manner.
    • Assisting in maintaining a clean and orderly clinical atmosphere within Radiology.
    • Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent; preferred candidates are at least 17 years of age and currently enrolled in a school of radiology program.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to adhere to department policies and procedures for effective processing of radiology-related images and the PACS system, along with an understanding of basic radiologic and medical terminology.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively address patient inquiries and interact with physicians and their staff.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to engage with clients professionally, caringly, and respectfully.
  • Genuine interest in healthcare and foundational scientific and technical knowledge.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in using basic office equipment; good telephone etiquette skills are required.

Working Conditions
