Job description:
Assist in the oversight and training of student and support staff for various Barista roles, ensuring compliance with Starbucks standards and policies. Responsibilities encompass initial Barista certification training, continued education in Starbucks offerings, and mastery of over 100 food and beverage recipes and codes. You will also maintain brand-specific equipment, manage retail and food inventory through vendor coordination, and oversee the upkeep of frozen and dry stock.
Responsibilities:
- Create unique, hand-crafted beverages and food items efficiently within a high-paced customer service environment.
- Support the training, onboarding, and certification of new baristas.
- Lead and guide fellow baristas in alignment with Starbucks Training Guidelines.
- Operate and maintain cash register systems, processing cash, credit, Combo Exchange, and Starbucks gift cards.
- Facilitate daily inventory management and ordering of products from various vendors to meet business needs.
All staff within SLE are designated as critical personnel. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or emergencies, individuals in this role are expected to make all reasonable efforts to report to work as scheduled. Employees with approved remote work agreements may be required to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of food ingredients and appropriate preparation and serving techniques is essential.
- At least one year of satisfactory experience in a food-related environment or a commensurate combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts is required.
- Adherence to personal hygiene standards consistent with sanitation regulations is a must.
- Ability to occasionally lift weights ranging from 26 to 75 pounds is necessary.
