Job description:

Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks including zone maintenance, vehicle receiving and shipping, inventory scanning, vehicle movement (both on and off the lot), lot washing and merchandising, as well as taking and uploading vehicle photos to carmax.com. Exceptional customer service is a vital component of this role.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute processes as outlined by work instructions and standardized procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team on problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in training new associates under the direction of Inventory Associate II and/or the Manager.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure daily maintenance and security of display and work-in-progress areas on the lot.
  • Secure and process vehicles received at CarMax.
  • Prepare vehicle and title packets for shipment to other locations.
  • Accurately scan vehicles to maintain up-to-date product status.
  • Perform washing and vacuuming of customer returns and loaner vehicles.
  • Conduct front-lot washing as needed.
  • Carry out the Photo Station process effectively.
  • Drive vehicles on and off the lot for repairs and storage as required.
  • Provide auction support as applicable.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workplace in accordance with CarMax 5S standards.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by Flow Inventory Associate IVs and Managers.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license that meets CarMax DSEPS standards.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and transcribing data to maintain accurate records.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Ability to follow documented processes and standardized work instructions.
  • Completion of Inventory Associate workstation certifications and assigned workday training.
  • Capability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • The role involves indoor and outdoor work, with the possibility of exposure to noisy and/or adverse weather conditions.
  • Flexible scheduling is required, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The position necessitates extended periods of walking or standing within a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
