As an Assistant Store Manager at Family Dollar, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our customers. You will assist the Store Manager in the daily operations of the store, including inventory management, store presentation, and the completion of daily administrative tasks.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and approachable manner, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns effectively.
  • Maintain visibility within the store, ensuring a consistently excellent customer service experience.
  • Ensure the store is well-stocked and maintained for a positive shopping environment.
  • Under the guidance of the Store Manager, supervise, train, and develop Store Associates in accordance with Family Dollar’s operational practices.
  • Assist in unloading merchandise from delivery trucks, organizing stock, and transferring inventory from the stockroom to the sales floor.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager in ordering merchandise and maintaining accurate records related to payroll, scheduling, cash register transactions, and receipts.
  • Support the Store Manager in loss prevention initiatives.
  • Assume management responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with the ability to read, interpret, and articulate operational directives such as merchandise schematics.
  • Experience: Retail management experience is preferred, especially in grocery or drug store environments.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. (and occasionally, up to 55 lbs.) from floor level to above shoulder height. The role requires frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Availability: Must be flexible and available to work a full-time schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong customer focus, ability to develop and manage potential, results-driven orientation, excellent organizational skills, effective communication, problem-solving capabilities, job knowledge, and relationship management.
