Job description:
Under general supervision, the Patient Access Representative I is tasked with completing various assignments, including responsibilities related to registration, financial clearance, insurance verification, and cashiering, as designated by Revenue Cycle Management. This role requires adherence to established quality and productivity standards while performing assigned duties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Accurately and promptly completes all responsibilities assigned to the Patient Access Representative I.
2. Responds courteously and professionally to the needs of customers in a timely manner.
3. Collaborates and communicates effectively with all members of the McLaren Health Care team.
4. Actively participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
5. Completes tasks accurately under general direction, seeking guidance and direction from Patient Access Representatives II and III, as well as supervisors when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

– High School Diploma or GED
– A minimum of six months of experience in Patient Access, Medical Billing, or Customer Service
– Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, as well as Windows-based applications and 10-key calculators
– For roles designated as float positions, willingness to travel to or between clinics is required

Preferred Qualifications:

– Associate’s Degree in Health Care, Finance, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
– Certification in medical billing, coding, or a relevant job-specific certification
– Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
– One year of experience in Revenue Cycle management
