Job description:
A Cook is responsible for preparing all food items in accordance with standardized recipes for the Restaurant/Dining Outlet, Cafe, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria, and Banquets, while ensuring the highest standards of quality to deliver an appealing and appetizing product. Additionally, the Cook is tasked with maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety within the kitchen and work areas, with an emphasis on minimizing waste and optimizing cost and production ratios. This is a part-time position, primarily during the afternoon shift on Thursday and Friday, with flexibility.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
- Food Handlers Certification (must comply with state requirements).
- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Capability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Ability to perform well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities:
- Approach all interactions with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards as required by varying schedules based on hotel needs.
- Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the appropriate uniform and name tag while on duty, per brand standards.
- Comply consistently with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Meet certification requirements relevant to the position, including Food Handlers Safety and others as required.
- Maintain a welcoming and warm demeanor at all times.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of menus and preparation requirements in alignment with hotel standards.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all storage areas.
- Complete necessary food and station preparations prior to the opening of the Restaurant/Dining Outlet/Cafe to ensure prompt and efficient service to guests.
- Prepare and present buffet food items according to Aimbridge Hospitality standards.
- Maintain a presence on the kitchen line as required during operating hours to prepare food to order, ensuring maximum efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Prepare food for Banquets following the specifications outlined in Banquet Event Orders.
- Prepare and serve food for the Associate Cafeteria as directed by restaurant leadership.
- Prepare all foods in accordance with Aimbridge Hospitality standard recipes, with the creation of specials conducted under the guidance of restaurant leadership.
- Break down buffets and kitchen lines, ensuring proper storage of food and equipment at the end of each meal period.
- Work banquet food stations as scheduled by restaurant leadership.
- Be knowledgeable of the locations and operations of all fire extinguishing equipment.
- Practice safe work habits consistently to mitigate potential injury to oneself or colleagues.
- Familiarize oneself with all hotel policies and house rules.
- Understand and adhere to hotel emergency procedures.
- Utilize Production Charts as specified by Aimbridge Hospitality standards.
- Ensure that all associates maintain an attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous demeanor toward guests, managers, and fellow team members.
- Operate and maintain cleanliness of all kitchen equipment effectively.
- Adhere to the "Clean As You Go" policy.
- Assist in the storage and rotation of food items according to hotel procedures.
- Sign out and back in keys under supervision as required.
- Attend mandatory meetings as requested by management.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
