Overview
The Patient Service Specialist – Float position involves traveling across multiple centers within the market to provide coverage as needed. The home clinic is located at 3370 E. Jolly Rd, Suite B, Lansing, MI 48910. This is a full-time role with a Monday to Friday schedule. Compensation begins at $16.00 per hour, with potential for more based on experience.

As a Patient Service Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients have an exceptional experience upon entering our outpatient physical therapy center, particularly at the front desk. You will manage both the patient-facing and administrative aspects of our center, significantly impacting each patient’s experience even before they leave the waiting area.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients, providing them with information on what to expect during their visit and details regarding their next appointment at check-out.
  • Schedule patient appointments both in person and via phone.
  • Maintain regular communication with various stakeholders, including attorney offices, insurance companies, translation services, market operational leaders, and the business development team.
  • Collect co-pays from patients, manage payer approvals, and conduct insurance authorizations and verifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 1 year of front desk experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the healthcare field.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to consistently walk, stand, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to enable typing (including 10-key) during the workday.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 25 lbs from ground to waist using proper body mechanics.
  • Capability to carry office supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Visual acuity (near and distant) adequate for maintaining accurate records, recognizing individuals, and comprehending written directions.
  • Sufficient hearing and speech abilities to understand and provide directions.
