Job Title: Dialysis Clinical Technician Fairlane – 40 Hours/Week Day Shift

Company: Henry Ford Health System

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay:

AI Pay Analysis: To accurately analyze the hourly rate for the “Dialysis Clinical Technician” role in Dearborn, MI, it would be necessary to know the specific hourly rate being offered. However, as of my last update, dialysis technicians typically earn between $15 to $25 per hour, depending on factors like experience, certifications, and the specific healthcare facility. Considering the geographical location of Dearborn, which tends to have a slightly higher cost of living compared to other areas in Michigan, rates towards the upper end of that range or higher would be more competitive. If the offered rate falls within or above this range, it can be considered competitive and aligned with industry standards for similar roles in that region.

Job description:

We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Dialysis Technician to become a key member of our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and demonstrate a passion for supporting individuals facing kidney disease. In this role, you will be instrumental in administering dialysis treatments and safeguarding the well-being of our patients.

Located at 19001 Hubbard Dr., Dearborn, MI 48126, this full-time position falls within the Fairlane Home Dialysis unit, which operates alongside an outpatient dialysis facility. Our team manages a diverse population of peritoneal and home dialysis patients, with a current census of 13 PD patients and 2 HHD patients. The unit is staffed by full-time Nephrologists, as well as both full-time and part-time home nurses and dialysis technicians. Additionally, we benefit from shared support staff from the outpatient clinic, including front desk personnel and technical staff responsible for machine maintenance.

The patient care team oversees case management for 15 patients utilizing connected health systems such as Baxter and NxStage. Patients receive training for home dialysis treatments within the clinic environment, with peritoneal dialysis training spanning 7-10 days and home hemodialysis training lasting 4-6 weeks. Our home team coordinates monthly clinic visits for all home patients, ensuring interdisciplinary collaboration and scheduling lab draws for PD patients. We also provide patient education and facilitate referrals to transplant services as requested.

Our unit typically operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility depending on clinic needs. Home nurses are expected to take after-hours on-call shifts, including weekends, while the home clinic is generally closed on most weekends and holidays, except when specific patient needs arise.

General Responsibilities:

  • Deliver dialysis treatments per established protocols and physician directives.
  • Closely monitor patients during treatment, assessing vital signs and promptly addressing any changes in condition.
  • Set up and manage dialysis machines, executing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as required.
  • Administer medications and intravenous fluids based on physician orders.
  • Educate patients and their families on dialysis processes, dietary guidelines, and self-care practices.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical records, documenting treatment activities and patient progress.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards within the dialysis unit.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and pursue ongoing education to further enhance professional skills.

This job posting outlines primary duties and responsibilities but is not intended to capture all tasks associated with the position. Employees should be prepared to perform additional job-related functions as needed.

Education Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a dialysis technician training program is preferred.
  • Certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) is mandated within 18 months of employment.
