POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Officer is responsible for patrolling all areas of the property and assisting guests with room access. Key duties include monitoring closed circuit television, perimeter alarm systems, duress alarms, and fire life safety systems. The officer will lock property entrances when required and conduct daily physical hazard inspections. In the event of accidents, the Security Officer will respond promptly, contact emergency medical services if needed, and administer first aid or CPR as necessary.
Additionally, the officer will assist guests and employees during emergency situations, notifying the appropriate individuals in the case of accidents, disturbances, or other incidents. The role requires the ability to defuse tense situations and call for external assistance when necessary. The Security Officer will be responsible for completing incident reports to document any Security/Loss Prevention-related occurrences, addressing interruptions and complaints, and resolving safety hazards.
The officer will also escort unwelcome individuals off the property while maintaining a seamless operation. Responsibilities further include reporting on vehicle accidents or thefts, utilizing proper codes when seeking assistance, and completing a Loss Prevention shift summary/daily activity report. Confidentiality of all Security/Loss Prevention and property reports is paramount, with information released solely to authorized individuals. Conducting investigations, gathering evidence, and interviewing relevant parties is also part of the position.
Compliance with company policies and procedures is essential, including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management, completing safety training and certifications, maintaining a professional appearance, ensuring the protection of company assets, and upholding the confidentiality of proprietary information.
A core aspect of this role involves providing exceptional guest service by welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing guests’ service needs, and assisting individuals with disabilities. The Security Officer will communicate with others using clear and professional language and accurately prepare and review documentation.
Positive working relationships with colleagues are expected to support team objectives, comply with quality assurance standards, and demonstrate the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. Additional physical requirements include reading and visually verifying information in various formats, inspecting tools and equipment, and effectively moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects with varying weights. The officer should be able to navigate narrow, confined, or elevated spaces and maneuver over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
