Job description:
This position is responsible for leading the daily operations of a retail store in collaboration with or in the absence of the Store Director. The role ensures that all departments are fully staffed, properly trained, and aligned with company standards while fostering a positive, high-performing, and customer-focused store culture through effective leadership. The individual will assist in monitoring all financial aspects of the store, maintaining the physical location, and communicating and executing corporate plans.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist the Store Director with comprehensive retail store management, including staffing, training, performance management, and career development of associates, as well as developing and monitoring departmental goals.
– Develop and oversee departmental budgets as required.
– Provide focused and effective leadership to store associates to nurture a positive, high-performing, and customer-centric store culture.
– Assist in managing the store’s overall profit and loss performance, which includes budgeted sales, gross profit, and controllable expenses.
– Maintain regular follow-up with sub-department managers to ensure goals related to budgeted sales, gross profit, and controllable expenses are being met.
– Support sub-department managers in data interpretation and strategic planning to achieve departmental goals.
– Coordinate store activities to guarantee successful operations and compliance, measured by safety checks, audits, and labor regulations.
– Ensure adherence to corporate merchandising and inventory programs, collaborating with corporate partners to ensure clear communication and compliance with operational standards.
– Implement and maintain work schedules, labor control measures, and payroll management for the location.
– Execute the OWN IT! service program (One customer to Wow Now by Interacting and providing Total Satisfaction) and exemplify high service standards to cultivate a customer-oriented environment.
– Stay informed about industry trends and best practices; propose enhancements to current programs and processes.
– Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
– A minimum of three years of progressive experience in a retail grocery environment.
– At least one year of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a retail setting.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict management abilities.
– Proven leadership skills with the capability to work effectively in a hands-on environment.
– Strong strategic planning capabilities and business acumen.
– Comprehensive knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
– Depending on location, fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
