Job Description:

As a Recovery Homes Specialist, you will work closely with the Recovery Home Manager and the Coordinator team to provide oversight for clients residing in Recovery Homes, fostering an environment that promotes the development and maintenance of successful recovery. Positive modeling of effective recovery practices is essential to this role.

Education Requirements: A minimum of 60 college-level credits is required, with a BS/BA degree preferred.

Required Trainings/Certifications/Licenses:

  1. CPR/First Aid Certification
  2. A valid Michigan Chauffeur License
  3. Fire Suppression certification
  4. MCBAP Certification or a Development Plan
  5. Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  6. Adherence to ATS training requirements
  7. Person-Centered Planning
  8. Cultural Competency
  9. A valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Availability: This is a full-time position with flexible hours, including the potential for holiday, evening, and weekend work as needed.

Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and navigate stairs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide after-hours support to the Recovery Home Manager as needed.
  2. Facilitate admissions and orientations, ensuring each client understands their rights and responsibilities as well as the house guidelines and relevant policies.
  3. Maintain structure and accountability for all Recovery Home clients.
  4. Offer support, encouragement, and community referrals as appropriate.
  5. Conduct a minimum of one face-to-face visit in each home daily.
  6. Ensure client files are up-to-date, documenting attendance in activities and groups along with any relevant information regarding individual clients.
  7. Keep clients informed of local recovery activities and assist them in coordinating their participation to enhance pro-social skills.
  8. Model appropriate boundaries, ethical behavior, and a recovery-oriented lifestyle for clients.
  9. Facilitate weekly House Meetings, guiding clients in the fair distribution of household responsibilities through a chore chart, addressing group concerns, and mediating any conflicts that arise.
  10. Monitor any issues requiring management or maintenance intervention and file Incident Reports as necessary.
  11. Conduct monthly safety drills to ensure clients are prepared for emergencies, with documentation completed and filed in the red Safety Binder.
