Job description:
This position is responsible for providing support to the Store Director while acquiring expertise in the management of all aspects of the store. Under the guidance of the Store Director, the role entails ensuring that all departments are adequately staffed, trained, and operating efficiently; overseeing store profitability by monitoring financial elements related to purchasing, stocking, selling, payroll, and other general expenses and income; maintaining the physical location, including equipment, sanitation, safety, and overall appearance; and effectively communicating and executing corporate strategies. Furthermore, all other assigned duties should be completed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct regular inspections of all areas and provide constructive feedback to department managers.
– Review reports, take necessary actions, and communicate relevant information as required.
– Participate in financial planning, including budgeting, staffing/payroll, and facility maintenance and upgrades.
– Collaborate with personnel from SpartanNash and foster effective communication.
– Train team members on all departmental activities and functions.
– Oversee the selection, scheduling, and supervision of team members.
– Greet all customers and deliver prompt, courteous service or assistance.
– Maintain a clean, visually appealing, and customer-friendly department.
– Acquire thorough knowledge of all products available in the department, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and usage.
– Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
– A minimum of three years’ experience in a retail grocery environment with progressively responsible roles.
– At least one year of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a retail setting.
– Proficiency in computer applications such as email and spreadsheets.
– Capable of reading, writing, comprehending, and interpreting documents.
– Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles.
– Ability to interpret and analyze financial data.
– Experience in developing and managing budgets.
– Skills in delegation, direction, and implementation.
– Knowledge of suggestive selling and product awareness.
– Strong attention to detail.
