Position Overview:
The Charge Nurse (Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse) plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by delivering exceptional nursing and customer service within the assigned unit and throughout the facility. This position supports the Director of Nursing, Unit Managers, and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing in the planning, development, and management of the unit, ensuring that residents receive quality care around the clock. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing residents’ conditions to implement interventions and develop care plans, while accurately recording observations in PCC and adhering to facility medical records policies.
  • Conducting regular rounds, independently and collaboratively with physicians, to evaluate residents’ symptoms, progress, and responses to treatments, making necessary interventions.
  • Providing preventative, supportive, maintenance, and rehabilitative care that attends to the physiological and psychosocial needs of residents.
  • Administering a variety of treatments, such as dressing changes, wound care, Foley catheter irrigations, IV therapy, tube feedings, chest tube management, and peritoneal dialysis.

Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse is required.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.
  • One year of professional nursing experience in a long-term care environment is preferred, though not required.
  • Familiarity with applicable state nursing regulations is advantageous.

Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of current federal and state laws and regulations pertinent to nursing practice in long-term care settings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the capability to prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively.
