Forest View Hospital, situated just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a distinguished private psychiatric facility with a capacity of 108 beds, catering to children, adolescents, and adults. Licensed by the State of Michigan and fully accredited by The Joint Commission, we bring over 45 years of expertise in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a diverse array of behavioral health issues. Under the supervision of the Manager of Environmental Services-Housekeeping, the Full-Time Housekeeper (10:30 AM – 7 PM) is tasked with maintaining cleanliness across all areas of the hospital. This includes the routine cleaning of patient rooms, clinical environments, assessment rooms, break rooms, outpatient areas, restrooms, and corridors in accordance with hospital standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute all assigned duties with professionalism, upholding the integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Conduct terminal/detailed cleaning of patient rooms as necessary to maintain a germ-free setting and bolster the safety of patients and staff.
  • Complete work assignments promptly and efficiently.
  • Utilize and manage chemicals and supplies per established procedures.
  • Properly operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Assist visitors with directional inquiries as needed.
  • Introduce oneself to patients, families, and visitors consistently.
  • Identify and report safety hazards appropriately.
  • Transport waste and hazardous materials to designated disposal locations.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies as required.
  • Adhere to all infection control protocols, including hand hygiene, Standard Precautions, and isolation precautions.
  • Meet established quality standards in the execution of job responsibilities.
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision, while consistently observing safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions with sound judgment.
  • Read and comprehend operational instructions for equipment use.
  • Maintain carpeted and tiled floors as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve departmental objectives, fostering a positive and supportive work atmosphere.
  • Address housekeeping needs of both patients and staff courteously.
  • Accommodate varying shifts, including days, evenings, or nights as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in hospital environmental services/housekeeping preferred.
  • Proven ability to complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities; effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently, demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and a positive demeanor.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks.
  • Skillful in handling challenging situations involving patients, physicians, or others with professionalism.
