Job description:

Provides pharmacy consulting services with compassion to patients regarding the effective use of medications and awareness of potential drug interactions. Responsible for overseeing the pharmacy department’s operations, including workflow management, continuous quality improvement initiatives, adherence to policies and procedures, compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements, pharmacy sales, expense control, inventory management, and upholding a professional image through precise prescription filling. Ensures the highest level of patient service, which includes collaboration with healthcare providers and pharmaceutical as well as payer partners, while actively working to develop and safeguard departmental assets.

Patient Experience

  • Ensures department staff deliver exceptional and hospitable service to foster a distinctive and positive patient experience, highlighting interpersonal habits that demonstrate care, such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, along with Walgreens service traits including curiosity to identify needs and proactive assistance.
  • Addresses patient inquiries and concerns in a timely manner to ensure a positive patient experience.

Operations

  • Manages the pharmacy department’s daily operations and implements strategies to boost prescription volume, sales, profitability, and overall image through precise prescription filling and courteous service.
  • Reports any prescription errors promptly and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding prescription incidents and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Ensures accurate and timely reporting of inventory for limited distribution drugs as required.
  • Complies with all federal and state regulations and company policies pertaining to all drugs and products; maintains all required records, documentation, and reports.
  • Recommends and implements asset protection controls to mitigate profit loss.
  • Oversees the maintenance, cleanliness, and overall condition of the pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manages the safe and cash-handling procedures, including electronic register readings, cash withdrawals, daily cash reports, and other cash management-related documentation.
  • Ensures the pharmacy department’s systems and equipment operate effectively and efficiently.

People & Performance Management

  • Establishes an organizational structure within the department through effective hiring, placement, work scheduling, responsibility assignments, and management of personnel changes.
  • Enhances departmental performance by fostering employee morale, recognizing achievements, addressing concerns, and applying constructive discipline when necessary, in alignment with state and federal laws.

  • Determines staffing needs and allocations to adhere to payroll budgets, effectively managing overtime where applicable.

External Basic Qualifications
