General Summary
Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, you will perform accurate and efficient diagnostic exams across all areas of general radiology. You are expected to demonstrate strong clinical skills and provide high-quality images for interpretation. You will apply principles of radiation protection and adhere to all relevant regulations. Additionally, you will take responsibility for specific areas and provide clinical instruction as necessary, consistently following the Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family-Centered Care.
Essential Duties
- Perform high-quality diagnostic exams following patient identification verification and physician orders.
- Acquire and document a thorough patient history in the medical record.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure safety.
- Execute radiographic and patient care procedures using age-appropriate methods tailored to the patient’s physical abilities and limitations.
- Communicate STAT requests to radiologists promptly.
- Maintain effective communication with customer service, administrative, medical staff, and peers at both inter and intra-departmental levels.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating diagnostic imaging equipment and follow protocols for addressing malfunctions or quality control issues.
- Utilize ALARA standards to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and yourself.
- Provide procedural information and education to patients and their families prior to exams.
- Contribute to department operations by assisting colleagues and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and control standards.
- Accurately and efficiently utilize hospital computer systems for order verification, schedule viewing, and information transmission to PACS.
- Assist in the training of students and new hires.
- Ensure cleanliness and preparedness of equipment and exam rooms, maintaining appropriate supplies and linens.
- Maintain competency in all assigned areas, including fluoroscopic, general diagnostic, orthopedic, and operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program is required.
- Experience gained at the student level is required.
- CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration – ARRT from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required within 180 days.
- CRT-Radiographer (R) – ARRT from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required upon hire.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) is required upon hire.
