SIGN ON BONUS: $15,000
FULL TIME – DAYS

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Special Procedure Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care to patients undergoing Heart and/or Vascular procedures. This role supports physicians and contributes to the delivery of high-quality patient- and family-centered care. The incumbent may be required to perform IV starts, prepare patients, monitor hemodynamic status, operate necessary equipment, document procedures, manage vascular access sites, and offer education to patients and their families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
– Monitor patients undergoing routine invasive and interventional procedures, providing essential intra-procedural technical support.
– Ensure quality patient- and family-centered care throughout the procedural process.
– Perform and document hemodynamic and physiologic waveforms and calculations as required.
– Communicate effectively with colleagues, physicians, patients, families, and all ancillary departments while consistently demonstrating the Corewell Health Standards.
– Conduct quality assurance checks on technical equipment and engage in departmental skills validation.
– Maintain radiation safety standards for both staff and patients, in accordance with the Corewell Health Radiation Safety Department.
– Participate in the On-Call rotation as scheduled by the department.
– For IR Special Procedure Techs, assist physicians using sterile technique and actively engage in 3D imaging, vascular, and cerebral cases as applicable.
– For Cath Lab Special Procedure Techs, demonstrate proficiency in utilizing IVUS, FFR, OCT, ICE, and EKOS, as needed.
– For EP Lab Special Procedure Techs, utilize ICE, assist in device implants, and circulate in all other EP cases as required.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Training:
– Interventional Radiology candidates must complete an accredited radiography program (JRCERT).
– Cath Lab/EP Lab candidates should possess a degree from a Cardiovascular Technologist program, an Associate’s degree in cardiovascular technology/basic science, a Paramedic license, or equivalent education and/or training.

Work Experience:
– Clinical experience is required, with completion of one of the aforementioned programs.
– A minimum of one year of experience in EP, Cath Lab, or IR is required.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:
– For IR positions: BLS certification and active RT status upon hire, along with completion of RT-CV or VI within two years of hire.
– For Cath Lab positions: BLS certification upon hire and ACLS certification within a specified timeframe, not exceeding six months. Registered RCES/RCIS/RT certification and IABP certification are also required.
– For EP Lab positions: BLS certification upon hire and ACLS certification within a specified timeframe, not exceeding six months. Registered RCIS/RCES is mandatory.

Other Qualifications:
– Basic computer skills, strong mathematical aptitude, exceptional communication abilities, and exemplary customer service skills are essential.
