Job description:
Position Summary: The Resident Aide is responsible for delivering personalized care and assistance to Harbor House residents in accordance with their individual care plans and physician directives. Collaborating effectively with team members is essential to ensure the provision of exceptional service to residents and their families.

Qualifications:
– Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED.
– Strong interpersonal communication skills are required.
– Professional demeanor and adherence to the dress code are essential.

Basic Objectives and Responsibilities:
– Deliver personal care and support in daily living activities for residents.
– Assist residents in implementing their physical, spiritual, and behavioral care plans, as required.
– Maintain accurate documentation and record-keeping procedures.
– Fulfill housekeeping, dietary, and programmed activities tasks to cater to resident needs.
– Interact professionally with staff, visitors, and family members.
– Adhere to organizational policies, standards, and licensing regulations.
– Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Aide or Home Supervisor.

Physical Requirements:
– Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, either independently or as part of a two-person assist, on occasion.
– Unlimited capacity for bending and stooping tasks, including assisting residents in various transfers.
– Ability to pivot while supporting the weight of a resident.
– Good eyesight to read small print and handwriting.
– Adequate hearing to ensure effective communication in person and over the phone.
– Proficient verbal communication skills for effective interaction.
– Cognitive skills to reason and address complex situations, including CPR and trauma-informed care.
– Fine motor skills required for report writing and executing resident care tasks as documented.

Essential Job Functions:
– Assist residents with personal hygiene tasks, including teeth brushing, peri-care, showering, and bathing.
– Support residents with toilet use and incontinence products as needed.
– Help residents with dressing and undressing.
– Facilitate personal grooming activities, such as shaving, nail care, hair styling, and makeup application, as requested by residents.
– Accompany residents in spiritual care activities, including attending church, pre-meal prayers, and devotion participation.
– Aid residents with mobility and transfer needs.
– Carry out housekeeping duties such as bed-making, cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry, including sorting, washing, and distributing laundered items.
– Provide dietary support including meal preparation, assisting with dining, and cleaning.
– Participate in day programming by encouraging residents to achieve personal goals in mobility, independence, and community integration, as well as escorting them to activities.
– Handle phone communications by transferring calls or taking messages when required.
