Community Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a Medical Director to oversee the comprehensive medical services at our designated site(s). This role entails ensuring the seamless operation of medical practices and compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, while leading a team of medical professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. The Medical Director will also play a vital role in patient care, which includes signing or countersigning medical orders, treatment plans, and required documentation.

Responsibilities:
– Adhere to CMS’s standard of care as established by the Chief Medical Officer and detailed in the CMS Policy Manual.
– Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and follow-ups; prescribe medications, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatment as necessary.
– Utilize the state-specific prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) database, documenting findings in case notes for each patient encounter and in accordance with regulations.
– Analyze drug screen results, determine the necessity for confirmation testing, and interpret serology results.
– Communicate treatment plans and test outcomes clearly with patients.
– Facilitate referrals and consultations to ensure a continuum of care and holistic management of patients.
– Educate patients on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), opioid use disorder (OUD), communicable disease prevention, and other pertinent health topics.
– Complete clinical documentation on the same day as patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR).
– Ensure all documentation meets CMS policy requirements and is complete and appropriate.
– Provide emergency triage for patients in distress, including administering naloxone when necessary.
– Maintain an efficient appointment schedule and be present in the clinic during all assigned hours, with availability for on-call duties as needed.
– Uphold professional ethics and boundaries consistently.
– Assist with dosing and medication services as required.
Qualifications:
– Current MD or DO licensure in the state(s) of employment.
– Unrestricted DEA license.
– At least 1 year of experience as a physician in substance use treatment or a related behavioral health setting is preferred.
– Clinical experience in substance use rehabilitation and opioid treatment is preferred.
– Proficiency in computer skills, including navigation of electronic health records.
– Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
– Demonstrated passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven focus, and self-direction.
– Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
– Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
