In this role as a Hospice Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

– Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Senior Patient Care Manager, functioning under the guidance, direction, and supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
– Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene and a clean, safe environment.
– Prepare and serve light meals, as well as provide assistance in feeding when necessary.
– Facilitate patient ambulation and safely support the use of walkers or wheelchairs as instructed by nursing staff.
– Perform light housekeeping tasks such as trash removal and linen changes.
– Support the implementation of prescribed treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care, adhering to state-specific regulations.
– Engage patients in activities of interest to promote mental alertness.
– Offer basic emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
– Communicate any changes in a patient’s mental or physical condition or home environment to the Registered Nurse and the interdisciplinary team.
– Provide guidance to primary caregivers regarding basic care practices.
– Adhere to infection control measures and standard precautions.
– Accurately document visit itineraries and complete required paperwork in a timely manner, as specified during orientation.
– Attend staff meetings and participate in at least one Quality Improvement activity annually as designated by your supervisor.

About You:

To excel as a Hospice Aide/CNA, you should possess the following qualifications:

– A genuine compassionate heart for hospice care, displaying kindness and empathy towards patients and their families.
– Comfort in providing care in various environments, including patients’ homes.
– The ability to remain flexible and composed while offering support during crisis situations.
– A valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
– At least six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology care is highly preferred.
– Additional relevant experience in hospital settings—such as Med Surg, PACU, Float Pool, ER, critical care, acute care, cardiac care, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing homes, or travel nursing—will enhance your candidacy.
– A current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
– Current CPR certification.

Compensation for this position may vary within the specified salary range based on numerous factors including the candidate’s location, experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, and departmental equity. Gentiva offers associates a comprehensive benefits and total rewards package, of which base pay is one component.
