Job Summary / Job Duties:
The Bakery Processing Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of processing and baking machinery under general supervision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating processing and baking equipment to produce products in accordance with Quality Assurance guidelines and maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Accurately mixing ingredients and monitoring temperature and moisture levels, adjusting as necessary, while ensuring that improperly formed product is removed.
  • Following established procedures to operate and shut down equipment within the processing and bakery area, including changeovers and preventative maintenance.
  • Communicating and escalating quality issues to relevant team members.
  • Reading and interpreting batch sheets, following recipes, and ensuring precise weighing of raw materials.
  • Logging and monitoring temperatures, mix times, item numbers, and raw material weights, making adjustments as needed.
  • Conducting inspections for foreign matter in products.
  • Adhering to sanitation procedures for cleanups and changeovers, including the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Tracking and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Utilizing material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, to move raw ingredients.
  • Maintaining optimal raw material inventory levels, unloading raw material trailers, and keeping relevant personnel informed of supply needs.
  • If applicable, monitoring and adjusting seasoning coverage as necessary.
  • Practicing and adhering to safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for housekeeping, personal protection, and environmental maintenance; ensuring work areas are tidy, storing supplies in designated locations, and maintaining clear exits and aisles.
  • Reporting all job-related accidents or defective equipment to supervision.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required, and additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Education / Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of one year of production experience in a manufacturing environment. Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification is a plus.
