Job description:

This role involves providing temporary coverage in response to urgent and on-demand military needs, including post-deployment scenarios and the absence of assigned counselors. The primary responsibilities encompass delivering comprehensive personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families stationed at military installations. Key services include education and counseling in financial matters, encompassing one-on-one consultations, collaboration with commanding officers and other providers, conducting briefings and presentations, and offering referral resources beyond formal counseling sessions.

  • Creating and disseminating informational financial materials aimed at service members and their families.
  • Coordinating, advertising, and conducting a diverse range of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops, addressing various life stages in the military, including transitions to first duty stations, pre- and post-deployment considerations, and personal and career events as specified in DoDI 1322.34.
  • Responding to requests for age-appropriate educational classes or seminars.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in leveraging virtual counseling and electronic communication platforms, such as web-based secure online chat, video-based communications, and secure video teleconferencing, as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
  • Managing duty to warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) protocols.
  • Engaging with leadership through regular individual and group supervision, providing insights into prevailing trends and issues at assigned installations.
  • Participating in ongoing training sessions, quality improvement committees, or other contractual activities as appropriate.
  • Undertaking additional duties as assigned.

  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens with fluency in English; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish may be required based on contract specifics.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • One of the following certifications is necessary: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
