Job description:
Key Responsibilities:
– Ensure the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the company’s facility by adhering to regulatory requirements, developing and guiding personnel, effectively managing costs, and enhancing personal skills and competencies.
– Supervise a medium-sized facility with a team of 4-8 personnel at a single location.
– Regulatory Compliance:
– Operate the facility in accordance with all applicable local and federal regulations (FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, cGMP, etc.) and company policies.
– Maintain and comply with all required licenses and permits.
– Provide regulatory training and maintain comprehensive documentation.
– Report and investigate all incidents, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are executed.
– Ensure that all performance evaluations, hiring, promotions, and assignments uphold EEOC standards and are free from discrimination.
– Maintain an up-to-date plant hazard analysis and demonstrate a thorough understanding of potential hazards and associated safeguards.
– Comply with the Management of Change procedure.
– Ensure Safe and Reliable Plant Operations:
– Rigorously support, accurately complete, and uphold all company health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and documentation.
– Assume ultimate accountability for site safety, encompassing employees, contractors, visitors, and neighbors, while striving to meet or exceed company safety standards and demonstrating strong safety leadership.
– Implement and oversee the training matrix and site-specific training programs.
– Own and maintain all Key Operating Documents, ensuring they are current and comprehensively understood.
– Make informed decisions regarding plant and process management and delegate this authority to trained subordinates as appropriate.
– Cultivate positive relationships with customers and interdepartmental teams.
– Deliver the required quality and quantity of products to meet business needs.
– Execute predictive and preventive maintenance to avoid catastrophic failures and minimize unscheduled maintenance.
– Develop annual maintenance plans and plan for turnarounds as necessary.
– Maintain high standards of housekeeping to enhance the company’s image.
– Develop and Lead Personnel:
– Model exemplary safety behavior, taking a proactive approach to achieving a “Zero Accidents” workplace.
– Ensure compliance with the Qualification and Training program for Production Technicians.
– Conduct annual performance reviews with each employee.
– Create individual development plans annually, providing training and coaching to improve performance.
– Contribute candid feedback on management decisions and actively support these decisions.
– Insist on compliance with administrative and operational policies and procedures.
– Cost Management:
– Understand, monitor, and optimize operating costs within the authorized budget.
– Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities as permitted.
– Participate in the Capital Planning Process and annual expense budgeting initiatives.
– Control overtime within established limits.
– Commit to continuous improvement of efficiency and availability indicators.
– Utilize national purchasing agreements and frame agreements effectively.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise:
– Technical knowledge and practical understanding of Air Separation or Carbon Dioxide liquefaction plant processes, or relevant experience in the process plant industry.
– Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operational facilities, including Process Safety Management, OSHA, EPA, EEOC, FDA regulations (as applicable), and state and local requirements.
– Strong computer skills and proficiency in business applications.
– Capable of learning Distributed Process Control (DCS) or PLC operation and troubleshooting.
– Ability to deliver and explain training materials to operational personnel.
– Highly organized and skilled in time management, with a capability to establish and maintain effective filing systems and control of engineering documents, including the ability to read and red-line key operating documents.
– Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting.
– Working knowledge of commercial agreements and customer relations.
– Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
– General understanding of accounting principles and practical knowledge of plant operating budgets.
