Position Purpose:
The Driver is responsible for operating a tractor trailer or straight truck for local, interstate, and over-the-road (OTR) routes, delivering food and food-related products in a safe and timely manner, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role involves professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring accurate and prompt resolution of inquiries. As a collaborative team member, the Driver performs various duties to serve the company effectively.

Key Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:
– Conducting all required safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip) and inspections of the vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and reporting any safety issues or required repairs.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safety driving policies.
– Reporting safety hazards immediately and ensuring trailers are properly loaded and secured.
– Performing a count check of items and verifying customer invoices for loaded products, completing necessary paperwork accurately and legibly.
– Maneuvering the tractor to the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as needed.
– Delivering customer orders according to a predetermined route schedule and unloading products into designated storage areas.
– Performing damage control checks on items and communicating with supervisors regarding order removals in line with company policy. Verifying deliveries with customers and obtaining required signatures as necessary.
– Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors, ensuring that all equipment is locked and secured at all times.
– Unloading damaged goods and customer returns and completing the necessary paperwork, as well as managing equipment and waste disposal.
– Maintaining daily records of hours of service and complying with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Performing general housekeeping duties within the tractor and loading dock area to maintain cleanliness and organization, securing all equipment and paperwork at the end of the shift.
– Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
– A minimum of 6 months of tractor-trailer driving experience.
– Valid CDL-A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Passing a road test.
– Attainment or valid current DOT Health Card, or ability to secure a new one.
– Physical capability to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and stack products of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift, generally ranging from 10-35 pounds and, in some cases, up to 60-90 pounds.
