About the Role
Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 6 AM – 6 PM, 12-hour shifts.
As a Machine Operator, you will work with raw materials to accurately complete mix formulas, mix ingredients to create batches, and package materials for shipping or palletization.

Minimum Qualifications for a Machine Operator at Dawn Foods:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Experience in problem-solving across variable situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Forklift certification is beneficial, and the ability to become certified is required.
  • Basic computer skills are advantageous.

Key Responsibilities of a Machine Operator:

  • Ensure all produced products meet specifications, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high-performance standards in housekeeping in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), American Institute of Baking (AIB), International Food Standard (IFS), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements.
  • Accurately operate the necessary computer systems as required in production processes.
  • Operate auxiliary equipment as needed for respective functions.
  • Conduct operations safely in accordance with manuals, training, and batch card instructions to guarantee high-quality, food-safe products.
  • Uphold all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) and GMP, including pre-start checklists, scale checks, forklift checklists, code dates on labels, lot numbers on formulas, and batch verification counts.
  • Communicate any quality, safety, scheduling, or food safety concerns to the lead or supervisor within the department or plant.
  • Maintain an organized and clean workstation.
  • Execute all tasks in compliance with company GMP’s, SOP’s, and safety protocols.
  • Assist in training new team members.
  • Adhere to Food Defense and Security regulations.
  • Follow the guidelines specified in the job description for this role.
  • Execute all functions of the role and perform any additional duties as assigned.
