Job description:
The Event Setup/Teardown Supervisor plays a crucial role in achieving both immediate and short-term objectives established by the Operations Manager. This position is responsible for scheduling, implementing, and delivering work assignments in a timely manner and within budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who excels in interpersonal relations across all levels of the organization, both internally and externally, and possesses the capacity to adapt to shifting priorities and situations. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, general operations oversight, absence management, continuous improvement initiatives, discipline enforcement, manpower planning, and training.

- Provide leadership and direction for daily operations, effectively managing a team of entry-level employees to meet the demands of both internal and external customers.
- Utilize extensive knowledge and experience in employee supervision to maintain safety, quality, and productivity, with a proven track record in a unionized environment.
- Ensure compliance with operational policies and stay informed on the status of administrative tasks.
- Oversee inventory management and handle office administration responsibilities.
- Collaborate with other departmental managers to assess the requirements for customer events.
- Operate self-propelled material handling equipment and mechanical lifts as necessary.
- Assist in the training and development of production services staff to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, planning capabilities, and meticulous documentation practices.
- Coordinate and liaise with shift counterparts to ensure seamless operation across shifts and proper transition of responsibilities.
- Capture and communicate key service, safety, employee relations, and equipment issues through end-of-shift reporting.
- Analyze the overall efficiency of the assigned department, ensuring smooth operations while providing insights and reports to upper management as needed.
- Display flexibility and adaptability to changes, with the ability to work extended hours, including weekends, when required.
- Perform any additional operational duties or services as assigned.
- Previous experience in large hotels or convention center operations is advantageous.
Qualifications:
- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in event setup, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Skills: Ability to engage in physical labor, including bending and heavy lifting.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral, written, and listening abilities, coupled with good analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and proficiency in documentation and organization. Computer literacy is essential.
