Job description:

Accountable for the overall success of daily kitchen operations, this position requires the demonstration of culinary talents through hands-on involvement while leading staff and managing all food-related functions. The individual will focus on continuously enhancing guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to the operating budget. This role supervises all kitchen areas to guarantee the consistent production of high-quality food. Additionally, the individual is responsible for guiding and developing the kitchen staff, including direct reports, and must ensure strict compliance with sanitation and food safety standards.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years of experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or a related professional field; or
  • A two-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a similar major, coupled with two years of relevant professional experience.

Leading the Culinary Team:

  • Leverages interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and motivate staff, while advocating for sound financial decisions and demonstrating integrity through leadership by example.
  • Supervises and manages team members, overseeing day-to-day operations and understanding employee roles sufficiently to perform necessary duties in their absence.

  • Assists the Executive Chef with kitchen operations, while managing purchasing, receiving, and food storage protocols.
  • Prepares diverse types of food and verifies the quality of both raw and cooked food products, ensuring they meet established standards.
  • Aids in determining food presentation and creates appealing displays.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:

  • Strives for service excellence to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Manages daily operations, assuring quality standards and meeting customer expectations consistently.
  • Communicates effectively with team members to understand guest needs, providing guidance and coaching as necessary.
  • Observes staff service behaviors and offers constructive feedback, aiming to enhance service performance and emphasizing guest satisfaction during team meetings.

Maintaining Culinary Goals:

  • Achieves and surpasses performance and budget objectives by developing specific goals and plans.
  • Understands the impact of departmental operations on overall financial objectives and actively manages to meet or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Trains staff on safety procedures to ensure a secure working environment.

Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities:

The salary range for this position is $58,000 to $71,000 annually.
