Job Title: Pharmacy Operations Manager

Company: Walgreens

Location: Portage, MI

Pay: $22.5 – 31 per hour

AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $22.50 to $31 for a Pharmacy Operations Manager in Portage, MI, appears to be below the industry standard for this role, especially considering the responsibilities typically associated with pharmacy management, such as overseeing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing operations. According to data from sources like the Bureau of Labor Statistics and salary aggregate sites, Pharmacy Operations Managers in the United States generally earn significantly higher, often ranging from $35 to $55 per hour depending on experience and location. In Michigan, particularly in urban areas, competitive salaries may tip higher, reflecting both the cost of living and the specialized skills required. Therefore, this pay range could be considered non-competitive and may struggle to attract qualified candidates.

Job description:

  • As permitted by state and federal regulations, you will be accountable for overseeing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative functions. You will ensure an efficient pharmacy workflow and foster a positive patient experience while serving as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.

  • You will manage core pharmacy workflow, striving for excellence in operations. Coordination and organization of daily activities will be your responsibility, along with recommending appropriate pharmacy hours and maintaining a clean and stocked environment.
  • Guided by the pharmacist, you will use independent judgment to ensure compliance with business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks that do not necessitate pharmacist licensure. You will also manage annual inventory preparations.
  • You will be accountable for the completion of non-clinical patient calls.
  • Driving the rollout of new technology and processes, you will advocate for change and engage your team in action planning. You will ensure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department equipment and, in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager, oversee recordkeeping and security safeguards.
  • Under pharmacist supervision, you will strictly adhere to Walgreen Co. policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing in all relevant prescription-dispensing activities and be proactive in meeting the necessary elements of Good Faith Dispensing.

  • Identifying knowledge gaps in pharmacy operations among team members will be a priority. You will support their training through in-person instruction or the assignment of educational modules.
  • Assisting the Pharmacy Manager, you will monitor that all pharmacy and team member licenses, registrations, and certifications are current and compliant with regulatory standards, utilizing resources such as the Walgreens Online Verification System for documentation.
  • You will ensure compliance with procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by company policies and legal requirements.
