This announcement is for a National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service Position. The opening is for an Airman and Family Readiness Specialist, Position Description Number T5302P02, within the Ohio 179 Cyberspace Wing of the National Guard. Duties
As an Airman and Family Readiness Specialist (GS-0301-11), your responsibilities will include:

  1. Management of Family Readiness Programs: Overall management, control, and execution of ANG family readiness and support programs including services such as Personal and Family Life Education, Deployment Support, Financial Readiness, Employment Assistance, Education Programs, Transition Assistance, and more. You will be responsible for program planning and implementation while applying relevant knowledge of management principles, laws, and regulations. You will also provide guidance to leadership on family readiness initiatives and conduct assessments to identify gaps in service—implementing solutions where necessary.

  2. Resource Management: Develop plans for efficient management of resources to maximize service delivery, including coordinating budgets for family readiness programs. Aid in accommodating family needs during unit mobilizations and enhance the functioning of support services through assessments of family needs and trends.

  3. Customer Interaction and Program Development: Identify and assess family issues to develop effective programs, employing both formal and informal needs assessments. This includes documenting customer interactions and service-related activities.

Requirements
Conditions of Employment

  • Must be found suitable for federal employment through a background investigation.

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance and must have completed at a minimum, a National Agency Check (NAC) before position assignment.

  • This role is classified as Essential Personnel, with duty during state emergencies or disaster declarations capped at 14 days per year without prior approval by TAG.

Qualifications
General Experience: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience, with at least one year equivalent to GS-4, demonstrating the ability to:

  • Analyze problems to identify key factors and potential solutions
  • Plan and organize work effectively
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Specialized Experience: Experience relating to the position which provides the necessary knowledge and skills for successful performance must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade level within the organization.

Education: Substituting education for specialized experience is permissible through a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Documentation of educational qualifications must be provided.
