Job description:

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization’s intricate network infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure our systems achieve low latency, high performance, and exceptional availability. This position entails analyzing and troubleshooting system-related challenges, formulating innovative solutions, and providing comprehensive support. You will be tasked with developing strategic and operational plans for the introduction and deployment of new network and data center infrastructure, with a focus on security, availability, performance, quality, and responsiveness. In your capacity as the Network and Communications Manager, you will spearhead initiatives to transform and modernize our enterprise network and telephony environment, addressing the increasingly complex needs for resilience and cybersecurity. Reporting to the Division Director of Technical Services, this high-visibility role will enable you to leverage your expertise, vision, and creativity to enhance both our team and technological solutions to fulfill our organizational needs.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and execute complex technical projects encompassing LAN, WAN, WLAN, Wireless, SD-WAN, VPNs, NAC, and Zero Trust requirements.
• Configure and install routers, switches, servers, and other necessary network devices.
• Establish and uphold network engineering guidelines regarding performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Maintain local area networks, including those of corporate offices and industrial manufacturing plants, along with wide area and wireless networks.
• Provide ongoing technical and administrative monitoring across the enterprise, ensuring optimal functioning of networks, security, servers, virtualization, and critical services and applications.
• Oversee the corporate telecommunications network infrastructure.
• Proactively monitor network performance and integrity, identify bottlenecks, and implement necessary enhancements.
• Quickly diagnose and resolve network-related incidents and outages to minimize service disruption.
• Implement comprehensive security measures to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure from cyber threats and attacks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide network solutions that align with business goals.
• Conduct regular capacity planning assessments to anticipate future requirements and ensure the network is scalable to meet growing demands.
• Stay abreast of the latest networking technologies, trends, and best practices, evaluating their potential to enhance our infrastructure.
• Develop design documentation and configuration/installation instructions for a diverse array of network equipment.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of network engineering experience.
• Profound understanding of network protocols, topologies, and architectures.
• Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Strong technical acumen and experience in several of the following areas:
  • Cisco networking technologies (LAN / WAN / WLAN / VLAN)
  • Routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Layer 3 design principles, including VRRP, VRFs, and SDWAN.
  • Layer 2 design principles, including VLANs, MST, and RSTP.
  • Wireless Control Systems, Access Points, and 802.1x, PKI, EAP, TLS technologies.
  • VXLAN design, implementation, and support.
  • Network storage technologies and file system management.
  • Understanding the impact of changes and events within the network domain on applications and the overall business.
  • Experience with systems change control.
  • Proficiency with Linux and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong analytical abilities along with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks, troubleshoot, and resolve issues beyond routine problems.
  • A collaborative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to make informed independent decisions based on expertise and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification or comparable certifications from Microsoft, Rockwell, VMWare, etc.
• Expertise in the manufacturing industry (preferably food-related).
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Network engineering (routing, switching), monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds), and automation platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, and/or Meraki.
  • Server and desktop virtualization utilizing VMWare solutions.
  • Storage & SAN management, employing Fiber Channel, iSCSI, FCoE, and NFS.
  • Windows Server Operating Systems from versions 2016 to 2022.
  • Shop floor controls, specifically Rockwell/AB PLCs.
