The Support Specialist plays a vital role by directly reporting to the Dean of Business and supporting the Coffee Beanery Program Coordinator/Faculty in various academic culinary programs. This position is integral to the management of teaching laboratory spaces, catering services, and Coffee Beanery retail operations.

Key responsibilities include providing assistance in purchasing, inventory management, fiscal oversight, technology support, and collaboration with work-study students. The Support Specialist will also engage in menu planning and event catering to enhance our culinary offerings.

Supervisory Responsibility:
In conjunction with the Dean, Program Coordinator, and Coffee Beanery Manager, the Support Specialist will oversee the hiring, scheduling, and supervision of work-study students.

Minimum Requirements:
– An Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, or Food Service Management, complemented by two years of related industry experience or equivalent work experience.
– Current “Servsafe” certification from the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association.
– A minimum of two years of culinary or hospitality industry experience.
– Proficiency in operating various types of restaurant equipment.
– A solid understanding of culinary and catering operations, including menu preparation and cost analysis.
– Competency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
– High energy, diplomacy, tact, and a passion for this role’s dimensions.
– A proven record of delivering high-quality, customer-oriented service.
– Strong interpersonal and listening skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups and foster a cooperative work environment.
– Outstanding organizational and problem-solving capabilities, with the foresight to anticipate stakeholder needs and concerns.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
– Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate operational demands, particularly during semester start-up, shut down, and special events.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Candidates must be capable of remaining on their feet for a substantial portion of the workday and lifting weights between 5 and 50 lbs. Responsibilities entail regular motion around the office and active engagement in kitchen and retail environments.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time role with an expected commitment of 40 hours per week, typically from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Flexibility in hours is required to meet operational needs.

Additional Information:
Priority will be given to internal candidates. All degrees must be conferred by the offer date.
