Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials and commodities, ensuring compliance with quality procedures and specifications.
  • Maintain the effectiveness of the quality system, including tracking commodity lot trace files and updating compliance with Kosher schedules.
  • Accurately sample ingredients and packaging materials, adhering to certified supplier monitoring protocols.
  • Perform analysis and physical evaluation of ingredients and packaging materials as designated by testing procedures.
  • Monitor and release ingredients and packaging materials according to a defined schedule.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of laboratory equipment as necessary.
  • Identify and report any method procedure issues or out-of-specification conditions to supervisory staff.
  • Input quality data into relevant computer systems, including MITS, AMAPS, and LIMS.
  • Manage the hold process for commodities, ensuring accurate maintenance of hold lists and following up on proper disposition.
  • Communicate with Supplier Quality Assurance and relevant plant personnel regarding supplier events.
  • Interact routinely with inventory planning, materials management, and plant Quality Engineers to ensure timely evaluation and release of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Update plant procedures to remain compliant with new policies and accurately reflect operational practices.

You will be responsible for upholding compliance standards, including those set by the FDA, OSHA, and Abbott’s internal policies and procedures.

Compensation and Work Schedule:

The Incoming Material Inspection Technician position offers an hourly rate of $23, accompanied by a 5% shift differential and a $3,000 sign-on bonus. The work schedule is from 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM, Sunday through Wednesday. Please note that training after orientation will occur on the day shift from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of 1 year of college-level science, such as chemistry, and 1 year of college-level math (college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus), or a Bachelor’s degree in a science or technical discipline
  • Capability to perform sensory testing, which includes taste-testing products to evaluate flavor, texture, aroma, etc.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Math, or a related technical field
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory standards and nutritional products
