As a Social Services Technician 3 within the Columbus Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will be an integral member of a team of public health professionals devoted to our shared mission of safeguarding the health of Georgia’s residents.

Job Responsibilities
This position is based in Columbus, GA and is not eligible for remote work. You will utilize your expertise to support the Department in fulfilling the following responsibilities:

  • Engage in recruitment activities as required.
  • Conduct initial and annual family-centered assessments with each family.
  • Develop, monitor, and review goals collaboratively with families.
  • Facilitate group sessions and conduct one-on-one home visits focusing on health and development, including planning, delivering, and documenting visits.
  • Administer appropriate screenings to expectant and postpartum mothers, children, and their families.
  • Organize group connections that enable families to establish social bonds, engage in parent-child interactions, and enhance their understanding of child development support.
  • Assist families in accessing resources and facilitate their transition to other necessary services.
  • Ensure timely maintenance and submission of all required family and program documentation.
  • Participate in at least two hours of reflective supervision per month.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings for at least two hours.
  • Pursue competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three years of experience in a social service-related position, or one year of experience in a lower-level Social Services Technician 2 (SST011) or an equivalent role.

Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in a social service-related field from an accredited institution and one year of experience in a related area is preferred.

Additional Information
All employees of West Central Health District 7 are considered essential workers during emergencies and may be called to serve in various capacities, such as staffing a shelter or working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) or Point of Dispensing site (POD). Participation in such events is mandatory as a condition of employment.
