Pay: $22 – 28 per hour

AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $22 to $28 for a Licensed Veterinary Technician Surgical in Royal Oak, MI, falls within a competitive range, although it may vary depending on factors such as experience, specific job duties, and the employing organization. As of my last knowledge update, the average hourly wage for veterinary technicians in Michigan generally ranges from $16 to $25, while those with specialized skills, such as surgical assistance, can command higher rates. Considering the cost of living in Royal Oak and the demand for veterinary services, this salary range is reasonable but may be on the lower side for more experienced technicians or those working in high-demand specialty practices. Overall, it’s essential to compare this rate with local job postings and consider the benefits offered to fully assess its competitiveness.

Hartrick Veterinary Clinic is a well-established, thriving practice with 4.5 doctors, accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), offering exceptional care for dogs, cats, and pocket pets. As a testament to our commitment to growth and excellence in veterinary medicine, we are thrilled to announce the addition of a new veterinarian to our team in June 2025.

Our clinic provides a robust range of services including:

  • Orthopedic surgeries
  • Diagnostic ultrasound
  • Echocardiograms
  • Feline Friendly Certified Care
  • Fear Free trained staff
  • Laparoscopic surgery for enhanced healing times (utilized for spays, gastropexy, foreign body removals, and more)

As a member of our surgical team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of care. Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) are vital to the surgical process, leveraging their skills to manage all aspects of anesthesia and surgical care—from catheter placement to monitoring during recovery and discharge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the intake and discharge processes, ensuring excellent communication with clients and a seamless experience for pet owners.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians to uphold patient safety and comfort throughout surgical procedures by adhering to the latest pain management and anesthesia protocols.

Why Join Us?

  • Collaborative Environment: Our LVTs and veterinarians work synergistically to constantly adapt and refine our protocols for the safest and most effective patient care.
  • State-of-the-Art Protocols: We continually upgrade our pain and anesthesia protocols, employing the latest techniques and medications to prioritize patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.
  • Comprehensive Role: This position provides a fulfilling blend of hands-on clinical work and client interaction, enhancing both professional and personal satisfaction.

  • A dedicated orthopedic surgical room
  • Two soft tissue surgical rooms
  • A dedicated surgical prep room
  • Expansion of our dental suite with the addition of 2-3 dental tables
  • A handheld dental x-ray unit for full mouth x-rays

Our adoption of Scribe Note technology has greatly streamlined our workflow, instantly turning client conversations into detailed medical documentation with just one click. Additionally, we are pleased to offer Global FAST Ultrasound Training to the right candidate, utilizing cutting-edge teaching techniques to enhance clinical ultrasound skills and improve diagnostic accuracy.

For those seeking a dynamic and supportive working environment with advanced technology and opportunities for professional development, we would love to hear from you!
