Job description:

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the mission of the Y, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community well-being through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The incumbent will provide exceptional service to all members, guests, and program participants while fulfilling responsibilities in both the Wellness Center and Front Desk at the Minerva Area YMCA.

Starting Rate

  • $10.75 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Available Hours

  • Early afternoon/evenings until close.
  • Hours and days will vary Monday through Friday.
  • Saturday from 8 AM to 12 PM.
  • Additional shifts as needed.

Qualifications

  • A genuine eagerness to welcome, connect with, and engage others.
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to empathize and problem-solve.
  • Capacity to relate effectively to diverse groups of individuals.
  • Previous experience in customer service, sales, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience interacting with people from various backgrounds, abilities, and perspectives.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification is preferred; training will be provided.
  • Knowledge in overall health and wellness fields.
  • Familiarity with exercise equipment and its proper use.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver exceptional service to members, guests, and program participants, enhancing member engagement.
  • Address and resolve concerns effectively.
  • Promote and sell memberships and programs.
  • Foster relationships and facilitate connections between community members and the YMCA.

Part-time staff members receive complimentary memberships and discounted rates for child care and most programs.
