Job Purpose
The Data Analytics Team Manager plays a critical role in leading and managing a team of data analysts and/or data scientists to extract insights and deliver valuable analytics that support data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership and management for a team of data analysts and/or data scientists, fostering collaboration and coordination among team members. Establish clear objectives, offer mentorship, and evaluate both individual and team performance.
  • Data Analysis Strategy: Develop and implement a data analysis strategy that aligns with the organization’s overarching business objectives. Define the scope, methodologies, and approaches for data analysis initiatives, taking into account available data sources and tools.
  • Data Exploration and Visualization: Guide the team in the exploration and analysis of large datasets to identify insights, trends, and patterns. Ensure the application of effective data visualization techniques to present findings clearly and succinctly to stakeholders.
  • Statistical Analysis and Modeling: Oversee the creation and application of statistical methodologies, machine learning models, and predictive analytics to derive actionable insights from data. Collaborate with data scientists and statisticians to build robust analytical frameworks.
  • Data Quality and Validation: Ensure adherence to best practices in data quality assurance, including data cleansing, validation, and integrity verification. Implement processes and controls to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
  • Business Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with business stakeholders, including executives, managers, and end-users, to comprehend their analytical requirements and provide strategic recommendations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define analytical needs and priorities.
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Uphold compliance with data governance policies, procedures, and legal regulations. Work alongside data governance teams to establish data standards, privacy protocols, and data usage policies.
  • Tool and Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of the latest tools and technologies in data analytics. Evaluate and select suitable platforms to meet the team’s analytical requirements, ensuring scalability and usability.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Oversee the development of reports, dashboards, and presentations to effectively communicate analytical outcomes and insights to stakeholders. Ensure the provision of actionable insights that inform decision-making processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with unit and department leadership to define and execute long-term strategic goals for business intelligence and data science roadmaps; study and implement emerging technologies while managing knowledge in these domains.
  • Assemble, lead, and manage a high-performance team focused on business intelligence and data science to fulfill organizational data strategies, delivering projects with a strong emphasis on quality and customer service. Promote associate development through coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Establish and guide enterprise analytics governance methods, stewardship, and practices to monitor quality, completeness, redundancy, and continuous improvement. Champion the development of a cloud analytics strategy.
  • Cultivate a regional and global network to build trust and credibility by understanding and addressing the needs of internal and external customers and vendors, leveraging persuasion and influence to achieve optimal outcomes aligned with enterprise IT goals.

Workstyle
Hybrid: 2 to 3 days per week at the Marysville, OH office.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering, accompanied by certifications in Analytics, Data Science, and Business Intelligence tools and technologies.
  • Experience: Approximately 8 or more years in IT, including a minimum of 3 years of experience in leadership roles within Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Analysis, Information Management, and Business Intelligence.
  • Strong strategic, project, financial, performance, and operations management expertise.
  • Proactive and self-driven individual with a robust sense of ownership.
  • Collaborative team player who develops relationships with customers and colleagues, earning trust and fostering influence to meet tactical and strategic objectives.
  • Servant leader dedicated to removing obstacles for team members and supporting their individual growth.
  • Familiarity with project management, budgeting, financial management, vendor management, service management, and operational efficiency is highly advantageous.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of relational data structures, theories, and principles.

  • Experience with SQL and database platforms like MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies, data storage options, data lakes, master data management, cloud ETL tools, and BI products.
