Job description:
Core Competencies and Qualifications

– An earned undergraduate degree (Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s) from a regionally accredited institution in Culinary Arts or Hospitality is required, along with a Master’s degree in Culinary Arts/Hospitality, a related field (non-Culinary/Hospitality), or an MBA.
– Prior training or teaching experience is essential.
– Management-level experience is required.
– Proven competency in key areas, including: Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Hotel & Restaurant Supervision, Front Office Procedures & Guest Services, Food & Beverage Purchasing & Controls, Hospitality & Travel Marketing, and Applied Food Service Sanitation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to

– Uphold the highest scholarly and ethical standards within the discipline.
– Actively engage in professional development activities to identify and implement effective teaching strategies that enhance student learning.
– Foster honest academic conduct and ensure evaluations accurately reflect individual student performance.
– Show respect for students as individuals and cultivate a respectful atmosphere in the classroom or online learning environment.
– Treat all students fairly and equitably, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, weight, height, marital status, familial status, protected disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or belief, or any other legally protected status.
– Demonstrate mastery of course material, arrive prepared for each class, including the necessary handouts, exams, or instructional materials, and present content with diligence.
– Teach courses according to the descriptions outlined in the Course Master while adhering to Department and standardized course policies, recognizing that teaching methods may vary among instructors.
– Be available for student consultations and provide guidance to facilitate student learning and success.
– Attend all scheduled classes and final examinations as planned.
– Assess and return written assignments to students in a timely manner, maintain accurate records of attendance and grades, and submit required reports by scheduled deadlines.
– Develop and distribute an effective course syllabus that aligns with College policies and includes the necessary elements of the course master; adhere to the syllabus throughout the semester with reasonable flexibility; participate in the College course evaluation process.
– Remain informed about the College’s support services for students and recommend their use when appropriate.
– Make every effort to attend scheduled staff meetings.
– Uphold professionalism in interactions with students and staff to maintain a scholarly atmosphere.
– Notify the Associate Dean promptly if unable to meet a scheduled class session; plan personal vacations in accordance with College schedules.
– Take responsibility for assessing, analyzing, and reporting on student learning outcomes.
