Job description:

Serves as the discipline leader for marketing while collaborating closely with key topline disciplines, including Sales and Revenue Management, to develop comprehensive cross-functional strategies. This role is essential in formulating a robust marketing strategy that aligns with the objectives and positioning of the hotel(s). Responsibilities include creating and overseeing the implementation of marketing initiatives aimed at driving topline revenue and achieving RevPAR and share-of-wallet goals. The candidate will manage all aspects of internal and external communications and oversee the hotel’s digital presence, including property websites, third-party channels, and social media, ensuring brand consistency and integrity.

This position will identify and leverage incremental marketing opportunities, encompassing partnerships, third-party sites, and Convention and Visitor Bureaus (CVBs). The successful candidate will regularly present campaign performance metrics to General Manager(s), Sales, Revenue Management leaders, and Hotel Ownership. In addition, the role may involve supervising a Marketing Coordinator to ensure the execution of identified tactics.

Candidate Profile:
Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, accompanied by at least three years of experience in Marketing or a comparable professional area; or
  • A four-year Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related major, along with a minimum of one year of experience in Marketing or a comparable field.

Core Work Activities:
Marketing Strategy

  • Formulates a comprehensive marketing strategy, including marketing plans and hotel marketing budgets, in alignment with business priorities, collaborating with General Manager(s).
  • Actively participates in recurring Sales Strategy Meetings to communicate the latest marketing strategies and implementation details.
  • Reconciles monthly marketing plans with accruals and forecasts in partnership with the Director of Finance.
  • Leads repositioning efforts in cooperation with the Area Team, General Manager, and hotel executive team.
  • Acts as the brand guardian and liaison, ensuring all marketing efforts reflect the brand voice accurately.
  • Collaborates with Hotel Operations to conceptualize and execute property-level programming and activation in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Oversees the implementation of continent and brand promotions and campaigns.
  • Works in partnership with Revenue Management to develop and execute promotional strategies.
  • Develops and manages property email marketing, digital strategies across M.Com and third-party sites, and performance metrics to ensure proper execution.
  • Supports group lead generation initiatives.
  • Analyzes marketing reports, articulating key insights to stakeholders and owners, and adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure deliverables support hotel strategies.
  • Develops, oversees, and executes an annual digital marketing plan and comprehensive partnership strategies to optimize hotel revenue and identify digital marketing opportunities on third-party and local partner sites.
  • Collaborates with Revenue Management to manage the OTA Strategy, conducting monthly market leader reviews, media investments, and aligning hotel positioning.
  • Provides recommendations for SEO improvements in cooperation with Marriott Digital Services (MDS) or relevant agencies.
  • Identifies digital marketing opportunities on third-party and local partner sites.

Content Management

  • Establishes a cohesive messaging strategy for the hotel or group of hotels that aligns with overall positioning.
  • Manages content for Marriott.com (via EPIC, Efast, MDS Client Community, etc.), OTA content (via respective extranet sites), and Third-Party and Group Sites (via content management systems).
  • Oversees the distribution of photography assets, including search images, pre-arrival photos, and photo gallery management.
  • Creates landing pages and Discovery Pages to enhance content as needed.
  • Manages guest communications, including confirmations and pre-arrival notifications.

Partnerships and Public Relations Management

  • Formulates a comprehensive partnership strategy for the hotel or cluster of hotels.
  • Identifies and fosters partnerships both internally and externally, including with Marriott Digital Services (MDS).
  • Oversees cluster marketing strategies.
  • Maintains regular engagement with Area Directors of Marketing to convey recommendations and actionable steps based on best practices and emerging digital trends.
  • Develops a public relations strategy for the hotel or group of hotels, defining objectives, pitch angles, and target segments.
  • Manages the public relations agency, if applicable, or oversees PR messaging directly.
  • Coordinates the execution of public relations events and promotions.

Outlet and Ancillary Marketing

  • Identifies marketing opportunities for outlets on third-party and local partner sites.
  • Collaborates with the Food & Beverage Director to define in-house programming and manages its execution.

Social Media

  • Establishes a comprehensive social media strategy for the hotel or group of hotels, defining goals and target audiences.
  • Develops and implements the social media strategy.
  • Oversees the budget and strategy for paid social media efforts.
  • Assists in reviewing social media content calendars and collects local area and property event information.

General Responsibilities

  • Takes ownership of asset development, including hotel collateral and photoshoots (encompassing sourcing, planning, on-site execution, post-editing, and distribution).
  • Effectively measures and communicates the success of campaigns and digital performance utilizing relevant reporting tools.
  • Demonstrates the ability to cultivate strong relationships and negotiate with key internal and external partners and stakeholders, such as General Managers, Sales and Revenue Leaders, the Regional Team, and media representatives.
  • Manages the development and design of hotel collateral as required.
  • Completes other reasonable duties as assigned by leadership.

The salary for this position ranges from $84,000 to $110,000 annually.
