Job description:
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical/I&C Engineer to head our Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) virtual teams. This role is pivotal in delivering cutting-edge water and wastewater designs to our clients, specifically within a strategic portfolio in the Midwest Area. The selected candidate will act as the EPAS Discipline Leader, necessitating a seasoned professional with extensive experience in design delivery and EPAS engineering for water and wastewater facilities.
In this leadership position, you will oversee a team of electrical and I&C engineers across multiple offices, managing group workloads, recruitment, project assignments, and providing mentorship and performance evaluations to team members. Your primary objectives as the EPAS Discipline Leader will include representing the discipline within the Portfolio delivery team, ensuring adequate resources for project execution, supporting Client Service Teams and the Portfolio Design Manager to facilitate successful project deliveries, and collaborating with the Portfolio Chief Engineer to uphold quality assurance standards for project outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
– Lead and manage the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls team, conducting annual performance evaluations, mentorship, and training.
– Communicate regularly with team members to address design delivery requirements.
– Collaborate with Project Managers (PMs) and Design Managers (DMs) on project planning, staffing, and budgeting.
– Engage with PMs and DMs to discuss staffing, scheduling, and scope modifications, escalating issues as necessary.
– Oversee subcontracted resources related to the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls discipline.
– Foster relationships with other Portfolio Discipline Leaders and the National Practice Leader to resolve resource, workload, and quality issues.
– Identify cross-training opportunities for staff among disciplines to enhance collaborative efforts.
– Participate in technical leadership meetings, providing team guidance based on such discussions.
– Lead the development and implementation of Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls standards in collaboration with the National Practice Leader.
– Maintain workload tracking tools to monitor team capacity and identify staffing gaps.
– Establish connections with subconsultants and additional resources.
– Strategize plans for professional engineer registration within the discipline for upcoming projects.
– Conduct QA/QC reviews to assure project deliverables meet organizational standards.
– Serve as the technical representative for the discipline on the Portfolio Client Sales Team.
– Support the design team in project pursuits, scoping, and pricing initiatives.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Sanitary, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
– At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields.
– Current professional engineer registration required; NCEES record preferred.
– Proven management and design/project management proficiency.
– Ability to prioritize group and project needs while managing multiple ongoing activities including project management, design, bidding, and construction oversight.
– Strong technical writing and communication skills, with a record of successful proposal writing, marketing, and public presentations.
– Experience in implementing and revising specifications and standards.
– Exceptional interpersonal skills and managerial capability to inspire and guide the team in delivering high-quality work and maintaining morale.
– A motivated self-starter capable of working independently and under tight deadlines.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting salary for this position will vary based on the employee’s primary work location, skills, experience, and education. The ranges are subject to modification:
– Location A: $131,000 – $179,000
– Location B: $144,000 – $197,000
