Position Summary

  • Cook: Responsible for preparing and serving food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in compliance with facility menus and applicable standards. Assists in ensuring proper procedures for receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning are followed. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, may direct other employees with appropriate approval.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety protocols, including the correct use and mixing of cleaning solutions. Report equipment and cleaning supply issues promptly to a supervisor, ensuring compliance with established safety and quality standards.
  • Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, and respond to paging systems promptly.
  • Customer Experience: Uphold a positive representation of HCSG by following instructions and maintaining courteous interactions with supervisors, colleagues, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engage in positive, respectful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • Exhibit a positive attitude and the capability to follow both oral and written instructions, executing routine tasks reliably.
  • After completing all required training, demonstrate leadership skills to perform responsibilities independently while ensuring personal and collective safety.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; prior experience in food preparation is advantageous. Successful completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory based on state or county regulations.
  • Adherence to scheduled work hours and punctuality is essential.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies as mandated by state, local, and customer requirements is necessary.
  • Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, and standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks consistently.
  • Willingness to work in proximity to food and cleaning products.
  • Residency within the service area is required.
